Dimensions of Biodiversity: New Standards for Documenting Biodiversity of Ciliates and Strategies for Accessing and Sharing Data
A workshop entitled Dimensions of Biodiversity: New Standards for Documenting Biodiversity of Ciliates and Strategies for Accessing and Sharing Data will be held at Royal Holloway (a constituent college of the University of London) on September 1-3, 2014. It is sponsored by the International Research Coordination Network for Biodiversity of Ciliates (IRCN–BC), with the assistance of the British Society for Protist Biology.
This workshop will include invited participants from many countries and several scientific disciplines related to biodiversity. Three main themes will be covered: 1) determining new minimum requirements for documenting descriptions of new species and taxonomic revisions, with suggestions for documenting other sorts of biodiversity investigations; 2) a global survey of current studies of biodiversity of ciliates; and 3) storage and accession of biodiversity data—where to put it, how to submit it, and how to find it.
This workshop should be of interest to anyone interested in an integrative approach to investigating biodiversity of ciliates. Also, it should be relevant to workers on other groups of protists as well as persons who focus primarily on prokaryotes or multicellular eukaryotes that interact with ciliates in some way.
Watch www.ircn-bc.org for preliminary and final programs as well as a registration form. Lodging and food are available on-site at attractive rates, and there is no additional registration fee. The beautiful campus of Royal Holloway is located in the village of Egham, convenient to Heathrow Airport and near attractions such as Windsor Castle.
A flyer is also available.
International Symposium on Testate Amoebae (ISTA7)
We would like to invite you for the next International Symposium on Testate Amoebae (ISTA7) that will be organised on 8-12 of September 2014 in Poznan, Poland.
The symposium will be held in the conference auditorium of Poznan Archeological Museum http://www.muzarp.poznan.pl/en/ located in the centre of Poznan Old Town. It will consist of two days of scientific sessions, one half-day trip around Poznan and half-day taxonomy workshop.
You will find the First Announcement and detailed information at ISTA7 web site: http://www.ista.climpeat.pl/ We are also on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/istapoland?fref=ts and Twitter https://twitter.com/ISTA_7.
Hope to see you all in Poznan next year!
