Future Protistology Meetings
To list a meeting on this schedule, please contact the Webmaster. ISOP-sponsored meetings are listed in boldface.
October 17-22, 2015San Feliu de Guíxols (Spain)
Unicellular eukaryotes comprise the overwhelming majority of eukaryotic diversity, pervading all branches of the eukaryotic tree of life. Recent sequencing efforts have significantly increased the number and diversity of unicellular eukaryotes for which genomic/cellular/proteomic data is available. Metagenomics, transcriptomics, single- cell genomics, and other 'omics' approaches are being applied to unravel the ecology, physiology, diversity and evolution of microbial eukaryotes and are shedding light on fundamental questions such as the origin of the eukaryotic cell, endosymbiosis, the origin of multicellularity and the evolution of major cellular processes in eukaryotes.
This EMBO Conference will gather researchers focused on the diversity and evolution of different groups of microbial eukaryotes. They will present their latest results and discuss them in an informal environment where new ideas are likely to emerge from scientific interactions.
The EMBO Conference will be held at Hotel Eden Roc, in Sant Feliu de Guíxols from 17 October to 22 October. Sant Feliu is a small picturesque town situated on the northern Mediterranean coast of Spain, 120 km from Barcelona and 30 km from Girona. The hotel overlooks the sea and is located 1.5 km from the centre of Sant Feliu de Guíxols.
15 August 2015. Registration deadline.
15 July 2015. Abstract submission deadline.
31 August 2015. Payment deadline.
October 19-21, 2015Ocean University of China, Institute of Evolution & Marine Biodiversity Qingdao (China)
'Current Trends, Collabrations and Future Directions in Biodiversity Studies of Ciliates' will bring together participants from Chinese institutions with those from other countries. The workshop will focus on integrative research into biodiversity of ciliates, especially projects involving international collaboration.
A Workshop Presented By the International Research Coordination Network for Biodiversity of Ciliates with Support from the National Science Foundation (US) andthe Natural Science Foundation of China
More information about the workshop, including support for travel of participants, can be found on our website at www.IRCN-BC.org.
Please contact Dr. Feng Gao or Dr. John Clamp if you have any specific questions or need a letter of invitation.

ISOP/ECOP 2015 (VII ECOP Congress) > Registration and Abstract submission are open now!
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It is our pleasure to invite you to attend the next VII European Congress of Protistology, VII ECOP, which will be held on September 5 to 10, 2015 in Seville (Spain) hosted by the Specialized Group of Protistology (Grupo Especializado de Protistología, GEP) of Spanish Society of Microbiology (SEM). The Congress will be organized by the Federation of European Protistological Societies(FEPS) for the first time in partnership with the International Society of Protistologists (ISOP). Venues of the VII ECOP-ISOP Joint Meeting will be the Hotel-Conference Center Silken Al-Andalus Palace and the Scientific Campus Reina Mercedes of the University of Seville. We are very much looking forward to hosting this major scientific event.
ECOP congresses take place every four years (last ones at Berlin 2011, Germany, and St. Petersburg 2007, Russia) and cover all aspects of the Protistology field. We expect that this first ECOP-ISOP joint congress will be an outstanding meeting point for protistologists worldwide to present their work and discuss their scientific achievements.
The format of the VII ECOP-ISOP Joint Meeting includes plenary lectures, parallel symposia and workshops lectures and poster presentations. The Congress has been designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the latest research developments in different Protistological fields, from the molecular to the ecological ones. ISOP organized and generously supported two symposia and two plenary lectures. It is our pleasure to announce that Ross Waller, University of Cambridge (UK), will give the 2015 Hutner Award Lecture at the VII ECOP-ISOP Joint Meeting.
Details of the meeting venues, speakers, registration fees, abstracts submission and hotel accommodation are posted on the Congress website www.viiecop.com
A special group rate at the Hotel-Conference Center Silken Al-Andalus Palace has been negotiated for VII ECOP-ISOP Joint Meeting delegates. Further information on hotel room rates and how to book your accommodation is available on the Congress website.
We invite you to check the website regularly for updates. Notices in affiliated journals (European Journal of Protistology and Journal of Eukaryotic Microbiology) and Societies websites will also be posted over the coming weeks.
Congress registration and Abstracts submission are now open!
10th July 2015. Early registration and Abstracts submission deadline.
1th September 2015. Late (increased) registration deadline.
We are looking forward to meeting you and your colleagues in Seville!
