Student-Postdoc Social

ISOP is sponsoring an outing Thursday evening for students and postdocs. Activities are tentatively scheduled to include bowling and dinner, followed by a"pub crawl" through historic Canterbury. Non-students are welcome to join the event, but will be asked to pay their own way. Please indicate your intention to attend this event during early registration.

Field Trip

A field trip to Darwin's home (Down house) is planned for Saturday following the meeting (July 24). To allow this event to link with an overnight in London and return trips home, bus transportation will be provided from campus to Down house, then from Down house to Victoria Station, before returning to campus. Expected departure time from campus is 9 am, with tour and lunch from 10:30 am to 3 pm, arrival at Victoria Station at 4 pm, and return to campus at 5:30 pm. Times are tentative, so do not plan to use this transportation for flights out of London on Saturday. Ticket price is 25£. Please sign up for the field trip during early registration.

 

Banquet, Award Presentations, and Silent Auction

The closing banquet is scheduled in Gulbenkian Theatre Cafe and Bar for Friday evening, July 23. A welcome drink of Kia Royale will precede a three course meal with wine, water and coffee (click for menu). The meal will be accompanied by a Jazz Band. Ticket price is 45£. Be sure to purchase tickets during early registration.

Student presentation and travel award recipients will be announced during the event.

A silent auction will be conduced during the banquet, with proceeds going to support student awards. Those wishing to make donations for the auction should consider protistology memorabilia, books, art, jewelry, or anything that can easily be carried to and from the meeting. Donations will be collected at the registration desk where you will be asked to complete a donation form. Items will be on display during the meeting, with bids finalized at the banquet.  Please indicate your intent to bring donations when you register for the meeting.

Movie Night

Have digital videos of your favorite protists that you are dying to show your friends? If so, bring them for Movie Night (Wednesday). Please indicate your intent to bring a movie when you register for the meeting.
